Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s “Stree 2” Is Scheduled For Release on August 15

The makers of the horror comedy “Stree,” starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, revealed on Thursday that the film’s sequel will be released on August 15 in honour of Independence Day.

The film “Stree 2” was originally supposed to hit theatres on August 31, but that date has been moved up by two weeks.

The film’s new release date was revealed in a post on X by Maddock Films, the production company of Madesh Vijan.

“Stree 2” will compete at the box office on August 15th against three other high-profile films: “Khel Khel Mein” starring Akshay Kumar, “Vedaa” starring John Abraham, and “Pushpa 2: The Rule” starring Allu Arjun.

Among the most critically and commercially successful films of 2018, “Stree” also starred Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana.

The film, which was directed by Amar Kaushik, was set in the small Madhya Pradesh town of Chanderi, where men are kidnapped in the middle of the night by an evil spirit known as “Stree” during festival season.

Its foundation was the urban legend of “Nale Ba,” which gained popularity in Karnataka throughout the 1990s.

Producers Vijan and Jio Studios are behind “Stree 2.”

The “Roohi”, “Bhediya”, and the recently released “Munjya” are all a part of Maddock’s horror-comedy universe, which also includes the “Stree” flicks.
