A facelifted version of Mazda’s third-generation BT-50 truck has been unveiled, enhancing its elegance and appearance while also adding some practical safety features.

The truck receives a visual update for 2025 that puts the appearance a bit closer to Mazda’s sedans and SUVs and incorporates a hint of the company’s Kodo sould of motion design language.

A new grille and a revised bumper, which Mazda says features a “air curtain” to reduce fuel economy, frame the LED headlights. Redesigned LED lights and a larger Mazda emblem are added to the tailgate’s ridged rear end. The BT now has seven paint possibilities thanks to the inclusion of two new colours: Geode White Pearl and Sailing Blue Metallic. The Red Earth Metallic paint seen in these photos is new and exclusive to the BT.

The interior has been updated with a new 9-inch infotainment system that keeps the physical volume controls, a 7-inch digital gauge pack, and wireless Android Auto activation, which was previously only possible with Apple CarPlay.

Additionally, the Mazda design team changed the material of the dashboard, console lid, and door trimmings from brown to black leather. With the choice of a leather seat trim finished in black and terracotta Maztex with synthetic suede and the BT-50 brand embroidered into the front headrests, flagship versions go one step further.

Mazda saw the facelift as a chance to even the playing field because the current BT-50, which is based on the Isuzu D-Max, was introduced in 2020 with less sophisticated safety technology than it does today. Along with new stereo cameras at the front that quadruple the truck’s range of vision, standard features include adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic brake and traffic sign recognition. The lane-keeping technician no longer needs to see line markings to determine the location of the road’s edge, and the auto emergency braking system can now identify motorcyclists and pedestrians at junctions.

A 1.9-liter turbodiesel with 148 horsepower (110 kW/150 PS) and a more powerful 3.0-liter version with 187 horsepower (140 kW/190 PS) are the carryover powertrains. Depending on the model, they are connected to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox, which distributes power to the back or all four wheels.
