Starlink Uses New Satellites to Improve Internet Service

As soon as government procedures are finalised, Starlink plans to launch its satellite internet service in India as early as January of next year. The business has bolstered its worldwide internet offerings by launching new satellites into space before to this eagerly awaited arrival into the Indian market. On December 8, 2024, early in the morning, a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida, successfully launched 23 Starlink satellites into orbit.

An important step in enhancing internet accessibility globally is this endeavour. Thirteen of the 23 satellites have unique technology that enables them to link to mobile phones directly without the need for additional equipment.

Approximately 350 of Starlink’s more than 6,800 satellites in orbit are capable of making direct connections to mobile devices. Additionally, according to Elon Musk, the business is working to improve the performance of next satellites by expanding their capacity in order to provide faster and better internet service.

In the meanwhile, users can make audio and video calls from a variety of locations with little disruption thanks to Starlink’s high-speed, wire-free satellite internet connection. High-speed broadband services are offered in India by telecom companies as Vi, BSNL, Jio, and Airtel. Additionally, Jio and Airtel have launched 5G internet services, which offer 300–400 Mbps speeds, with certain regions reaching 700 Mbps. The question of whether Starlink can meet or surpass these speeds is thus brought up.

With speeds ranging from 50 Mbps to 150 Mbps, Starlink currently provides satellite internet in a number of nations. While normal upload speeds fall between 10 and 20 Mbps, the priority plan can achieve up to 220 Mbps. Notably, there are regional variations in Starlink’s internet speeds. Among the many internet activities available to users are HD streaming, online gaming, and huge file downloads.
