Celebrity Mural Artist and Musician One Bouriyaphon, stage name “One Hunned”, stands for his community.

As an Asian American himself, One Hunned understands the need to raise awareness for racial injustices taking place across our nation. One Hunned takes a call to action in his mural of Vicha Ratanapakdee, an 84-year-old immigrant from Thailand who was tragically killed this past January.

Vicha Ratanapakdee was well-known in his San Francisco neighborhood for his hour-long walks each morning, a ritual that kept him vibrant and healthy during the year of the pandemic. Ratanapakdee, who had just recently received the coronavirus vaccine, was walking in the Anza Vista neighborhood the morning of January 28 when a man ran across the street violently shoving him to the ground. San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin called this tragedy “a horrific, senseless attack.”

In remembrance of Vicha who died from the attack in San Francisco, Thai Americans Democratic Group invited Lao Artist One Bouriyaphon (Instagram name @imonehunned) to highlight Vicha’s life through art. The mural can be seen on the building of Hollywood Boiled Rice Restaurant in LA’s “Little Tokyo” neighborhood. The restaurant’s owner states he “is delighted to provide the area.”

Aside from the portrait, “Justice for Vicha” and “Stand for Asia” organizations ask for continued support as they campaign against violence and fight for justice for not only the family of Vicha Ratanapakdee, but other Asians victims of hate crimes.
