Sedona concert series looks for bands

All the more live music is being heard in town and soon, comparative sounds will indeed be heard from the pavilion at Posse Grounds Park.

After the city canceled the event for 18 months because of COVID-19, the free Red Dirt Concert Series will be getting back with four performances set for Sept. Fridays, 3, 10, 17 and 24. Each will start at 4:30 p.m. at Posse Grounds Park.

“We got the go ahead to open more events in late spring after testing some singular activities,” Sedona Parks and Recreation Coordinator Ali Baxter said. “Summer is just too hot. Fall will be beautiful weather, just outside of the monsoon season.”

Meanwhile, Baxter said they will be tolerating candidates to act in the series. While music will probably be the most popular act, she said this is the first time when they’re searching for to a variety of performers.

“We are looking for anyone in the performing arts category,” she said. “Each application will be given the same consideration. We plan to have two performers per week. However, we could also find that more performers would be a good fit together.”

While the models has extended as far as acts, the one necessity that remains is that somewhere around one individual in the performance should be from the Verde Valley.

While there will be no audience capacity limits because of COVID-19, Baxter said they will request that participants keep on regarding removing as proper and not join in if any symptoms of sickness are available.

Applications are being acknowledged through July 29. Performers will be selected and informed the week of Aug. 2 and the performance lineup will be accessible the week of Aug. 9.
