Amazon intends to close five of its Massachusetts delivery warehouses because of the organization’s excess during the COVID pandemic, a representative told the Boston Globe.
Caitlin McLaughlin, a representative for Amazon, told Globe journalists that the organization’s delivery warehouses in Milford, Dedham, Everett, Randolph and Mansfield will be in every way shutting.
The representative didn’t indicate a timetable for the closures or state the number of workers that will be impacted by the decision. Nonetheless, McLaughlin expressed specialists of the soon-to-be-closed warehouses will have the option to move to nearby Amazon delivery warehouses that feature “upgraded amenities, for example, on-site parking and better break rooms, as per the Globe.
The Amazon representative said that the warehouse closures are part of the organization’s bigger work to revise excess from the COVID-19 pandemic, the newspaper detailed.
“We regularly look at how we can improve the experience for our employees, partners, drivers, and customers, and that includes upgrading our facilities,” Amazon spokesperson McLaughlin said in a statement to Patch. “These facilities provide upgraded amenities, including increased on-site parking, larger operational spaces, and better breakrooms with open market vending.”
