The first image of HMD Global’s first smartphone without the Nokia moniker, codenamed N159V, was unveiled earlier this month by 91mobiles. To summarise, HMD Global has been distributing Nokia smartphones through licencing since 2016. The most recent model is the Nokia G42, which is now available for $350 on Amazon. HMD Global did, however, clarify in September 2023 that, although it planned to keep selling Nokia smartphones, they will soon be available for purchase alongside devices bearing the brand’s name.
SuomiMobiili has now discovered a picture of an unannounced smartphone with “HMD” branding on Nokia’s website. Even though just a portion of its back panel is seen, what is seen is consistent with the previous leak from 91mobiles. As a result, the nameless smartphone has two rear-facing cameras, just as the Nokia C32 from the previous year. The inscription ‘108 MP OIS’ can also be seen in the same photograph, which most likely indicates that the primary camera is an optically stabilised 108 MP camera.
Unfortunately, other information, such as the release date, is still unavailable at this time. According to Evan Blass, at least six smartphones bearing the HMD brand may be in development; codenames for these smartphones are Legend, Legend Plus, Legend Pro, Pulse, and Pulse Plus. All are currently believed to be mid-range or entry-level devices rather than a throwback to the Nokia 9 PureView’s flagship era.
