Audi E: The Chinese Electric Vehicle Gets Ready for Its 2025 Launch

During road tests, the German manufacturer and SAIC collaborated to develop the Audi E electric vehicle for the Chinese market. It won’t have badges with the iconic Audi rings when it goes on sale in the summer of 2025. With 4WD for 764 horsepower and a 100 kWh battery for 700 km, this EV boasts the newest Chinese technology.

In the past, Audi had encountered a lack of enthusiasm for electric vehicles in the Chinese market. In 2022, this tendency became particularly apparent when an Audi store put up a giant banner that read, “Audi also has battery electric vehicles.” Nonetheless, it appears that the German automaker’s electric vehicles are being accepted at a similar rate.

China is the target market for this brand’s automobiles. Furthermore, they will only be constructed for and in China. The Audi E concept car, the brand’s debut model, was unveiled in November. During road tests, the pre-production Bow model was observed in China.

Audi E spotted during road tests

During road tests in China, the Audi E electric vehicle was seen donning a lot of camouflage. However, this vehicle’s overall body form and front-end appearance make it easy to identify. Its external design remains consistent with the car’s concept version that was unveiled last month. The Audi E’s front appearance features small headlamps and an air intake in the front bumper. There are air intakes on both sides of the front bumper.

The Audi E features a LiDAR sensor on the top and sloping A-pillars. Rather than using traditional side-view mirrors, the spotted vehicle uses cameras. This car has a streamlined roofline, eight-spoke rims, and concealed door handles from the side. This vehicle is either a shooting brake or a waggon. From the side, it features a slim taillight unit, a rear bumper with a noticeable diffuser, and a dynamic roof spoiler. The car’s sunroof is another feature.

It is important to note that the Audi E was seen alongside the SAIC-backed IM Motors test vehicles. It seems that the team at IM Motors is working on the first Audi EV without rings for China.

More about Audi E

The Audi E is a mid-size vehicle with a wheelbase of 2950 mm and measurements of 4870/1990/1460 mm. It features a huge pillar-to-pillar display within. A three-spoke double-D steering wheel, cool ambient lighting, and a lot of wooden trim inside are some of its other characteristics. The ceiling of this vehicle is also coated in suede.

Returning to the specifications, the Audi E uses a 100 kWh ternary NMC battery pack to power a dual-motor 4WD system with 570 kW (764 horsepower). This variant has a high-voltage platform of 800V and a CLTC range of up to 700km. It takes 3.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to one hundred miles per hour. It also has air suspension, all-wheel steering, and progressive front-wheel steering.
