Avatar: The Way of Water’s box office success continues for another week. The worldwide gross for the Avatar 2 sequel surpassed $2.116 billion over the weekend. This indicates that it has now surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens to become the fourth most successful movie ever. Titanic, Avengers: Endgame, and the original Avatar are the only games currently in front of The Way of Water. Additionally, James Cameron is the director of three of the four films.
For its seventh weekend of release, The Way of Water maintained its #1 position at the North American box office. It had $15.7 million of the new total of $620.5 million. Additionally, it has moved up to position 11 in terms of domestic gross.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish came in second with $8.46 million and $149.2 million to date. A Man Called Otto by Sony came in third with $6.75 million and a new total of $46 million. Pathaan made $5.95 million its first weekend of limited release.
With Missing, Sony won the sixth slot with $5.675 million and $17.5 million so far. Plane, starring Gerard Butler, made $3.8 million, giving it a new total of $25.3 million. The opening weekend total for Left Behind Rise of the Antichrist was $2.97 million, good enough for eighth place. The Chinese sci-fi film Wandering Earth II came in tenth place with a limited opening of $1.355 million, while NEON’s Infinity Pool opened with $2.72 million.
