The OnePlus 12 is currently being hailed as the newest standard-bearer in the Android display world. However, the Ace 3, which is rumoured to be arriving shortly, may cause some prospective customers to second-guess themselves given its remarkably identical specifications at a possibly lower cost, some of which may also turn out to be more useful.
It is currently believed that the display of the third-generation Ace, like that of the 12 (and potentially even the OPPO Find X7), is based on new X1 technology from BOE. With a “brightness and dimming scheme” almost exactly like the 12’s, the panel is expected to debut with potentially important display statistics, including a class-leading peak of 4,500 nits and 2,160Hz PWM with an additional DC mode in the new “10th anniversary” flagship.
However, the display of the Ace 3 is once again anticipated to have a resolution of 1.5K, as compared to 2K on the 12; also, it is the smaller of the two, measuring 6.78 inches. However, the Ace 3 is once again expected to be on sale with OnePlus’ flagship-caliber 100W charging and a little bigger battery.
Lastly, it has been said that the Ace 3 would debut with a “metal mid-frame,” a suggestion that may or may not allude to the more contemporary, flat-edged design that the new 12 apparently ignored.
