The film — featuring Liu Yifei as the main heroine — is set to hit theaters March 27, 2020. Disney on Sunday released the first teaser trailer and authority poster for the studio’s upcoming live-action remake of its 1998 animated classic Mulan. The clip made its TV debut at the halftime break during Fox’s broadcast of the FIFA Women’s World Cup soccer match between the U.S. and the Netherlands.
The review — loaded with action sequences — demonstrates Liu Yifei, who stars as the main champion, disguising herself as a soldier so as to spare her old dad from joining the Chinese military. “Yes, I will bring honor to us all,” the incredible warrior says in the review.
Additionally among the cast for Mulan — directed by Niki Caro — is Donnie Yen, Jason Scott Lee, Yoson An, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Ron Yuan, Tzi Ma, Rosalind Chao, Cheng Pei-Pei, Nelson Lee, Chum Ehelepola, Gong Li and Jet Li. Mulan was shot on location in New Zealand and China.
Mulan earned $304.3 million globally and earned Oscar and Golden Globe designations when it was originally released as an animated highlight over two decades back. The movie voice-featured Ming-Na Wen as the lead, nearby Eddie Murphy and BD Wong.
The new Mulan is set to hit theaters March 27, 2020.
