Google Play Selects Squad Busters as the Top Game and Alle as the best Indian App of 2024
In its list of the year’s top apps, Google Play announced on Thursday that India led the world in 2024 in the number of downloads for AI-powered apps.
India comprised 21 per cent of global downloads for AI apps and almost 1,000 apps and games in the country incorporate the technology, explained the company in a blog post.
The strength of local innovation is demonstrated by the fact that five of the seven winners in the Best of Play 2024 India apps list were created by Indian businesses. This year’s top apps cover a wide range of topics, such as news, fashion, health, and spending management.
Hey Alle’s “Alle-Your AI Fashion Stylist,” which offers tailored wardrobe suggestions based on occasion, body shape, and facial traits, named the best app of the year. It was also named “Best for Fun.”
Headlyne, the “Best (app) for Personal Growth,” demonstrates the growing use of technology to identify personal preferences by using AI to give personalised news.
Because it provides a high-quality, immersive viewing experience on big screen devices like tablets, Sony LIV: Sports & Entertainment took up the Best for Large Screens award.
In FY24, there were 23 million more gamers in India, bringing the total to 590 million. According to the blog post, it is the second-largest market in the world for downloading mobile games, and average weekly playtime has risen by 30% from the previous year.
2024’s top game was Squad Buster. For the second year in a row, SuperGaming’s Indus Battle Royale won Google Play’s Best Made in India title. The game “perfectly embodys” the incorporation of Indian storytelling and imagery with the well-liked Battle Royale genre.
