Grammys Telecast to Air as Planned, Pledges Support for Wildfire Relief Efforts

In February, despite the ongoing wildfires in Southern California, the 67th Grammy Awards event and webcast will proceed as planned.

The performance will continue, but it will focus on the destruction in Los Angeles, according to a statement released Monday by Tammy Hurt, chair of the board of trustees, and Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares.

The statement, which Billboard was able to receive, said, We grieve the loss of life and destruction that have come to this city in recent days. This city is our home.

The 67th Grammy Awards telecast on CBS on February 2 will go forward as scheduled, with careful collaboration with local authorities to guarantee public safety and responsible use of area resources. The statement went on to say, This year’s show will have a renewed sense of purpose: honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours and raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts.

This occurs one week after MusiCares and the Recording Academy started the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort to aid individuals affected by the tragedy in the music industry.

Universal and Warner Music Groups have canceled their pre-Grammy festivities, but the ceremony will still go on.

Instead, Universal Music Group, whose clients include Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar, will provide aid to the wildfire victims.

In an Instagram message, the label announced that it has canceled all of its Grammy-related activities, including the Artist Showcase and After-Grammy Party, and would instead use the funds saved for those events to help those impacted by the wildfires. First responders and emergency personnel continue to perform heroically, and for that we are incredibly grateful.

The label went on to say, So many of us call L.A. home. We’re determined to support and assist the music industry, our artists, our teams, and the people of Los Angeles in overcoming this terrible situation.

Warner Music informed Billboard that they would be using the money for wildfire assistance instead of hosting a party during Grammy Week.

The 2025 Grammy Awards will be held at downtown Los Angeles’ Crypto.Com Arena on February 2.
