  • Safety wise it could get six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.
  • Tata Curvv EV will be based on the Acti.ev platform which also underpins Tata Punch EV.

  • Expected to be priced from Rs 11 lakh for the ICE version and Rs 20 lakh for the EV (ex-showroom).

Following several spy photos and teasers, the official unveil date of the Tata Curvv is confirmed to be August 7, 2024. The Hyundai Creta and Maruti Grand Vitara are two popular models in the compact SUV class, which the Tata Curvv will join as India’s first mass-market SUV-coupe. It is anticipated that Tata would unveil the internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) variants of this coupe SUV on the same day.

Design

The Tata Curvv and the recently facelifted Tata SUVs, including the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari, are very similar in terms of style. Its front end has an integrated LED DRL system, headlights mounted on the front bumper, and an ICE-specific grille (the EV version will have a closed-off one). The Curvv’s coupe-style roofline is displayed along the sides, and teasers verify the presence of flush-style door handles—first for a Tata. Additionally, it will have linked LED tail lights with welcome and farewell features installed at the back.

Cabin & Expected Features

Tata hasn’t disclosed the Curvv’s interior in its entirety yet, but the spy photo and teasers suggest that it will incorporate elements from the Tata Nexon and Harrier. It can have a four-spoke steering wheel with the Tata emblem lighted on it.

A 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, a 9-speaker JBL sound system, a motorised driver’s seat, multicoloured ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof are just a few of the features that the Curvv will share with other Tata vehicles. The vehicle’s safety features may comprise of six airbags, a 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring, electronic stability control (ESC), front and rear parking sensors, and Level 2 advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) that include adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking, and lane keep assist.

Expected Powertrain

Tata will offer the new 1.2-liter T-GDi turbo-petrol and the well-known 1.5-liter diesel engine options sourced from Nexon for the ICE Curvv.

Tata has not yet released information about the Curvv EV’s electric powertrain or battery pack. On the other hand, two battery packs are anticipated to be available, providing a maximum range of roughly 500 kilometres. Tata’s Acti.ev platform, which already supports the Punch EV, will serve as the foundation for the Curvv. Features including variable drive modes, customisable energy regeneration, V2L (vehicle-to-load) capability, and DC rapid charging are anticipated to be supported.

Expected Price & Rivals

It is anticipated that the Tata Curvv EV will be on sale for Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) initially. In India, it will compete against the MG ZS EV and the soon-to-be Hyundai Creta EV. After the Curvv EV is introduced, the Tata Curvv ICE will go on sale. Its ex-showroom pricing could start at Rs 10.50 lakh. Compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Volkswagen Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Honda Elevate, MG Astor, and Citroen C3 Aircross will be up against the Curvv.
