Launched a few months ago, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) intends to introduce the CNG version of the new Swift. Customers have responded favourably to the country’s largest automaker’s S-CNG portfolio over the years, and the CNG-spec Swift compact hatchback will bring even more options to the roster.
On September 12, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift CNG will be introduced in India. Tata and Hyundai, two other companies that have previously included twin-cylinder CNG technology, will be a growing competitor. The new Z-series three-cylinder petrol engine made its debut in the most recent Swift and will also be found in the soon-to-be-released new-generation Dzire.
The engine generates 112 Nm of peak torque at 4,300 rpm and 82 PS of maximum power output at 5,700 rpm. The factory-fitted CNG model will employ the same engine and be available in a wide range of configurations. At retail, the basic Swift is available in five trim levels: LXi, VXi, VXi (O), ZXi, and ZXi+. Its current price range is between Rs. 6.49 lakh and Rs. 9.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
