Kia’s EV9 and 2024 Carnival: Release Date Confirmed

Kia India has explained towards the end of 2023 that it would add three new vehicles to its inventory by 2024. The Korean automaker has recently revealed that the new-generation Kia Carnival and the Kia EV9 will be introduced on our soil on October 3, even though the updated Kia Sonet was introduced in early 2024.

2024 Kia Carnival

In the Indian market, the Kia Carnival is not a brand-new vehicle. In India, Kia’s high-end MPV made its debut in 2020 but was eventually phased out in 2023. But this MPV—now in its facelifted fourth-generation avatar—will be returning to our shores.

A 12.3-inch dual-screen configuration, a panoramic sunroof, motorised and ventilated seats, and three zones of air conditioning are anticipated features.

It is available with a 1.6-liter petrol-hybrid (242 PS/367 Nm) or the 3.5-liter V6 petrol (287 PS/353 Nm) engine found in the worldwide model. An 8-speed automatic transmission and a 2.2-liter diesel engine (200 PS/440 Nm) were available for the now-discontinued India-spec Carnival.

Kia EV9

After the EV6, the Kia EV9 will be the company’s second and more upscale electric vehicle available in India. The EV9 was introduced to the public last year and comes with an option of two battery packs: a 76.1 kWh pack and a 99.8 kWh pack with a maximum WLTP-rated range of over 541 km.

Similar to the Kia Carnival, the EV is equipped with a 14.3-speaker Meridian sound system, a 12.3-inch dual-screen configuration (one for the touchscreen and one for the driver’s display), and swivel or recline second-row seats.

Prices and Rivals

The Kia Carnival 2024 might cost more than Rs 40 lakh (ex-showroom). It is anticipated to be less expensive than luxury MPVs like the Toyota Vellfire and Lexus LM, but nonetheless a more opulent and high-end substitute for the Toyota Innova Hycross.

Anticipated to retail for approximately Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kia EV9 may present a reasonably priced substitute for high-end electric SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV and BMW iX.
