Len Goodman is saying goodbye to “Dancing With the Stars” after 31 seasons as a judge.
The long-lasting presence uncovered on Monday’s episode of the dance competition show that he won’t be returning for Season 32.
“Whilst we all are getting excited and looking forward so much to the finale next week, it would also be with a touch of sadness and this will be my last season judging on ‘Dancing with the Stars,’” the 78-year-old said.
“I’ve been with the show since it started in 2005 and it has been a huge pleasure to be a part of such a wonderful show but I’ve decided I want to spend more time with my children and family.”
He continued, “I cannot thank enough the family of ‘Dancing with the Stars,’ it has been such a wonderful experience for me and I’m looking forward so much to next week’s finale, I’m sure it’s going to be absolutely brilliant.”
Following the emotional declaration, the ballroom expert, who is known for his extreme analysis, was met with a standing ovation — and praise online.
“We may not always agree with everything he says, but he is a dancing legend. He helped make the show what it is today along with Carrie Ann and Bruno. Hats off to Mr. Len Goodman for this amazing legacy on this show. I hope enjoys his retirement,” one fan wrote on Twitter alongside a gif of the judge wearing a crown.
“Y’all I’m actually choked up. You’re grumpy sometimes, but you’re a legend Len Goodman!,” another person tweeted.
“Len Goodman announcing he’s leaving dancing with the stars… im not ok,” a third chimed in with a crying meme.
While a fourth added, “LEN GOODMAN LEAVING DWTS IS THE WORST THING IVE HEARD ALL DAY.”
Goodman began as a head judge on the original UK version of “DWTS” called “Strictly Come Dancing.”
He passed judgment on the show for the first 20 seasons prior to enjoying some time off for Season 21 and Season 29. In any case, he has been an integral part of every season in between.
The former professional dancer — who right now lives in Kent, Britain — let Individuals know that doing the show has gotten “more challenging” as he has gotten older.
“I haven’t fallen asleep or started dribbling yet on the show, so I thought it’s best to go before I start to do so!” he joked.
“I will miss the California sunshine, working with my fellow judges and the camaraderie with everyone on the show,” he continued. “I’ll miss seeing the celebrities developing into dancers and I will miss being part of one of the most successful shows on TV.”
