- Second India-made car to be launched in Japan
- 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol
The Maruti Fronx, manufactured in India, is returning to Suzuki’s homeland.Indeed, the Japanese-Indian carmaker has shipped off the first batch of vehicles produced at its Gujarat plant for domestic sale. Since the car’s launch in the first quarter of FY24, there has been consistent domestic demand, and India, the worldwide hub for Fronx, produces the vehicle for both RHD and LHD markets. At the end of August, the vehicle will make its debut in Japan.
The main distinction between the Japanese-spec automobile and the Indian-spec vehicles is that the 1.5-liter petrol engine replaces the 1.2- and 1.0-liter turbocharged engines. Other than that, the Japanese-spec car’s external and interior designs are nearly identical. This engine, which produces 103 horsepower and 138 Nm, is available in India for vehicles like the Ertiga and Brezza. While Japan only receives the six-speed torque converter AT, we in India are able to purchase this engine with a five-speed MT or six-speed AT. Additionally, the Japanese market has the choice between FWD and AWD.
Following the Baleno’s global launch in 2016, Suzuki commenced exporting the vehicle from India to Japan. It would be reasonable to assume that the Fronx would do the same. The global export model, the 1.5 Fronx, is also available for purchase in the Gulf countries and in locations such as South Africa.
