The Dimensity 9300+, MediaTek’s top-tier mid-cycle refresh processor, has been formally introduced. Most of its specs were known well in advance thanks to a series of leaks. It is produced using TSMC’s state-of-the-art third-generation 4 nm node (probably N4P), and it significantly emphasises artificial intelligence, just like almost everything released in the last several months. According to MediaTek, the NPU of the Dimensity 9300 Plus can execute LLMs (Large Language Models) locally with up to 33 billion parameters.
With one Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.4 GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores at 2.85 GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores at 2.0 GHz, the Dimensity 9300+ maintains an all-performance-core architecture similar to its predecessor. It features improved packing technologies and a total of 18 MB of cache. Up to 9,600 Mbps LPDDR5X and LPDDR5T memory is supported by its memory controller. The last option is to use MCQ (Multi-Circular Queue) technology, which fundamentally enhances read/write performance, with compatible UFS 4.0 storage devices.
The Dimensity 9300+ retains the same 12-core Arm Immortalis-G720 MP12 GPU, which is capable of hardware-level raytracing. Although MediaTek hasn’t disclosed its clocks, a small spec increase appears likely. Up to 4K 120 Hz/1440p 180 Hz smartphone displays can be powered by it.Video recording on their Imagiq 990 ISP is restricted to 8K 30 FPS/4K 60 FPS, which is strange considering the competitors can easily achieve 8K 60 FPS. A still image can only be 320 MP.
The Dimensity 9300+ supports the following wireless networks: GPS, GLONASS, Beiou, Galileo, QZSS, NavIC, Wi-Fi 7, 5G (sub-6 GHz and mmWave), Bluetooth 5.4, and GLONASS. Devices using the 5 GHz band are allegedly able to travel 4.5 metres farther indoors thanks to MediaTek’s Xtra Range technology. The Redmi K70 Ultra, iQOO Neo9s Pro, iQOO Pad2 Pro, and Vivo X100s series—all of which are expected to be unveiled in the next few days—will all run on the Dimensity 9300+.
