Mercedes G-Wagon EV: Date of Release in India Revealed

The most costly electric vehicle produced by German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz is scheduled to debut in India at the beginning of the new year. On January 9 of the following year, the G-Wagon electric SUV—which is based on the flagship G-Class SUV—will go on sale. Earlier this year, the EQG concept of the G-Wagon electric SUV made its debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. The car will use the ladder-frame chassis and is based on the SUV’s G 580 version.

Mercedes-Benz started reservations for the electrified G-Wagon SUV in July of last year.

Mercedes Electric G-Wagon: Range and battery

A 116kWh battery pack will power the electric G-Wagon SUV. The electric SUV’s battery can be charged at up to 200kW, the automaker had previously stated. Essentially, this means that the EV may be charged from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes. Additionally, it is anticipated that the battery would work with a reduced 11kW charging capacity.

Mercedes Electric G-Class: Features

The electric G-Class, the priciest model in the premium electric SUV market, is expected to have every creature comfort a person could want. In addition to the carmaker’s own linked app, ADAS technology, 360-degree camera, Burmester sound system, rear-passenger entertainment screens, and more, there will be a dual-screen 12.3-inch infotainment system and driver display that is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Mercedes Electric G-Class: Performance

In keeping with its heritage as a sports car, the electric G-Class will be propelled by four electric motors and the manufacturer’s all-wheel-drive system. Each wheel will be powered by a separate electric motor, producing an incredible 579 horsepower and a staggering 1,164 Nm of peak torque. Although it won’t be incredibly fast, it can reach 100 kmph from zero in less than five seconds, and its top speed is electronically regulated at 180 kmph.

Mercedes Electric G-Class: Expected price

The G-Class SUV, which costs more than 2.50 crore in India, is sold by the German automaker. In European countries, the electric G-Class SUV has already been introduced with a starting price of 1.42 lakh euros, or around 1.29 crore. This electric SUV, however, is probably going to be imported into India and will cost a lot more after taxes.
