In an exclusive interview, Resident Weekly sat down with Naomi Rose to talk about acting, and her role in the award-nominated film ‘Bian.’
Congratulations on your latest movie role! Can you tell us about the film ‘Bian’?
‘Bian’ is a beautiful story about a young man who is confused with who he is and what he wants. He is in love with his boyfriend and knows he is gay but suddenly this girl shows up and turns everything around. This movie is telling the story of our youth, it shows that being confused and overwhelmed in life is okay and you are not alone. You don’t need to have it all figured out already.
Can you tell us about your character?
I play the role of Mia. She is a young women who is light hearted and is visiting Zurich for her summer holidays with her mother. She is here to have the best summer of her life, when she suddenly finds herself developing a deep connection with Bian.
How did you prepare for your role?
For me it was important to connect with my cast members. I am older so to understand the youth of this time, having a connection with them and just have pure joy. We wanted to create a Swiss movie that is very natural and how we are actually and I think we achieved that. The emotions are very raw and real. For me it was going back in time of when I was younger and going trough phases.
The movie was nominated for Zuger Filmtage and Schweizer Jugendfilmtage. Will it be released soon?
We had a premier this year, but unfortunately I was already here in LA and couldn’t attend.
What’s up next for you?
I am shooting an exciting short movie next week at the Big Bear! Which I am very excited about. Then I am set to do another short movie the following week. Both movies have amazing story lines and I am excited to see them to come to life!
