The acclaimed iPhone photography software Halide has received an update for the iPhone 15 Pro models, adding a number of in-app triggers that work with the new Action button on those handsets.
The Action button can be used to initiate manual focus, auto/manual exposure, RAW capture, 12/48-megapixel capture, cycle through lenses, shoot a photo, and more while the Halide 2.13 app is active on an iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max.
To pull off the feat, Halide’s developers created a unique Shortcut that, when chosen in iOS Settings Action Button, when the app is open, automatically selects a pre-set option from the programme’s dedicated new Action button menu.
Users are instructed on how to put up unique triggers in Halide’s Action button menu during setup. As an alternative, users can configure the Action button to launch a Shortcut Menu with a range of alternatives or enable a single-click “Open Halide” shortcut.
In addition, Halide now takes use of the iPhone 15 Pro’s zero shutter lag and offers new optimisations for capturing with a 5x telephoto lens.
Existing users can update to Halide 2.13 for free. The app is available for a free week-long trial before users must decide between a $59.99 one-time purchase or an annual $11.99 subscription. On the Halide website, you can read the developers of Halide’s annual deep dive into the new camera improvements in Apple’s most recent iPhone 15 series.
