OnePlus Enhances Display, Battery, and Charging in Entry-Level Phone Line

Although OnePlus is most known for its stunning flagships and foldables, the company also produces some decent low-cost Android phones. With the introduction of the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G, which boasts an even larger battery and quicker charging than previous models, the firm is updating its selection of low-cost phones. Former models, such as the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite, were released as the OnePlus Nord N30 in the US.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 695, which was also utilized in the CE 3 Lite and even the CE 2 Lite, powers the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite. OnePlus’s offering is not inherently faulty, as Qualcomm rebranded the Snapdragon 695 as the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3. It would have been great to have a newer SoC (one that is not just a rebrand), but that would have affected the value and price. Higher up in OnePlus’s product portfolio, there are devices like the Nord CE 4 and even the main Nord series for customers seeking more performance.

8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB or 256GB of expandable UFS 2.2 storage with microSD card support are included with the Nord CE 4 Lite.

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite’s switch from an LCD to an AMOLED display is one of its main improvements. A 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED FHD+ (2,400 x 1,080) display with Aqua Touch technology is included with the Nord CE 4 Lite. Also included is an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The Nord CE 4 Lite offers a modest IP54 classification for water and dust resistance and keeps the 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone has a 5,500mAh battery in India, however because of single-cell battery shipping regulations in the EU, it can only have a 5,100mAh battery there.

Additionally, according to OnePlus, the Nord CE 4 Lite has Battery Health Engine technology, which guarantees that the battery will retain 80% of its capacity after 1,600 charging cycles, or almost four years of operation. There is 80W fast charging available on board; however, although those shipped in India come with an 80W charging brick, those shipped in the EU do not. The 5W reverse wired (not wireless) charging capability of the Nord CE 4 Lite allows you to recharge your accessories as well if they run out of power.

The 50MP Sony LYT-600 main sensor, which has an f/1.8 aperture, a 1/1.95-inch sensor size, 0.8µm pixels, and OIS capability, is included with the Nord CE 4 Lite camera. The 50MP primary camera can produce 2x zoom images because of in-sensor zoom. Thankfully, there isn’t a pointless 2MP macro camera to fill in the specs this time around; instead, the second camera is a 2MP depth camera with f/2.4. The Aspherical lens is indicated by the “ASPH” marking next to the camera. With an f/2.4 aperture, the 16MP front camera captures images well.

OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite ships with Oxygen OS 14, an Android 14-based operating system. Three years of security upgrades and two Android platform updates are promised for the phone.

The price of the OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite in India is Rs. 19,999 (~$240) for the 128GB variant, Rs. 22,999 (~$275) for the 256GB variant, €329 in the EU, and £299 in the UK. Super Silver and Mega Blue are the phone’s global color options, and India additionally gets a third color option called Ultra Orange.

In the EU, you may pre-order the device right now, and open sales will start on July 1, 2024. Pre-orders in the UK and EU can select between a charging converter, a case, or a complimentary set of OnePlus Nord Buds 2. In addition, there will be a €50/£50 discount applied to all Nord CE 4 Lite pre-orders and sales made in the EU and the UK through August 2, 2024.

The phone will be available for purchase in India starting on June 27, 2024; however, the Ultra Orange hue will be available later. Some banking partners offer instant discounts of ₹1,000.
