Since mid-January 2024, the OPPO Find X7 and X7 Ultra have only been offered to customers in their home Chinese market (as well as to re-sellers in Europe). The latter is just now beginning to compete for the year’s best smartphone camera title against deserving rivals like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, but it also has to deal with being eclipsed by incredibly early rumours of a next-generation replacement.

According to Weibo leaker Smart Pikachu, one will come with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400, while the other will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.

These details may not come as a huge surprise, since the top-end Ultra edition is a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 device, and the Find X7 presently leads official AnTuTu rankings with the “9400’s” direct forebear. However, the latest leak may verify that OPPO’s first 3 nanometer (3nm) flagships would be their replacements.

Additionally, Smart Pikachu suggests that the vanilla “X8” will continue to use the optical scanner used on both of the 2024 flagship models, while the “Find X8 Ultra” would upgrade to an ultrasonic fingerprint reader. Additionally, there is a hazy possibility that one or both of the devices will carry even superior camera hardware into 2025.
