Even before its official launch in early 2025, the Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric has made a spectacular debut in the automotive world, winning the coveted title of “Best Car of the Year – The New Car World Champion 2024/2025.” Not content to settle for one honour, this all-electric supermini also won the title of “Best Electric Car 2024/2025” from the independent group Best Cars of the Year at their yearly New Car World Championships.
The Renault 5 E-Tech was initially seen by the judging panel, which included elite automotive designers, engineers, motorsport legends, and journalists covering the industry for cars, at the British Motor Show. The public could cast their votes for the winner of the ultimate award until August 18th, when the show’s closing ceremony took place. The Renault 5 E-Tech won after the votes cast by the general public and the judges’ judgements were added together.
The Renault 5 E-Tech’s fusion of contemporary innovation and traditional design cues particularly impressed esteemed judges like Paul Swift (world record-breaking driver), Ray Massey (Daily Mail motoring journalist), Paul Nakamura (ex-Nissan design chief), and Mike Rutherford (founder of Best COTY).
The Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric, staying true to its 2021 idea, showcases state-of-the-art technologies on its AmpR compact car platform while capturing the spirit of the original model.
