Ronaldo Secures Al-Nassr’s Victory in the Saudi Pro League with A Penalty Kick in the 97th Minute
On Friday, Al-Nassr defeated Al-Shabab 2-1 in the Saudi Pro League thanks to a spectacular penalty kick from Cristiano Ronaldo in the 97th minute.
Ronaldo scored his sixth goal of the season with a penalty kick after Robert Renan fouled Abdulrahman Ghareeb.
The first goal came from Aymeric Laporte for Al-Nassr in the 69th minute. However, Ali Alhassa’s own goal in the 90th minute gave Al-Shabab the equaliser. Al-Nassr now has 17 points after this victory.
In his team’s FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifying match against Bolivia earlier this week, Lionel Messi tied Ronaldo’s record for most hat-tricks for a national team. The defending WC winners won 6-0.
Messi scored goals in the 19th, 84th, and 86th minutes of the match and contributed two assists.
With seven victories, a tie, and two defeats, Argentina leads the South American qualifying standings with 22 points. Julian Alvarez (45+3rd minute), Thiago Almada (69th minute), and Lautaro Martinez (43rd minute) also put their names on the scoresheet.
Currently, Messi and Ronaldo are the only players to have ten international hat-tricks for their respective countries.
