In China, Xiaomi unveiled the new Civi 4 Pro smartphone. The first smartphone built on Qualcomm’s recently unveiled Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, the new Civi series phone has some quite unusual features.
Apart from being the first phone to include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, which offers on-device AI and other enhancements, the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro also has two front 32MP selfie cameras branded with Leica, a feature that is uncommon in modern smartphones.
The Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro is designed with a 6.55-inch AMOLED screen that has a resolution of 2750×1236, a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It is equipped with a new 4nm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, 16GB of RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage, so it should perform admirably. In order to keep that SoC properly cooled, there is also a sizable vapour chamber and a 4,700mAh battery with 67W charging. It is powered by Android 14-based Xiaomi HyperOS.
It has two 32MP selfie cameras on the front, located behind 78-degree FOV f/2.0 and 100-degree FOV f/2.4 lenses in a pill-shaped cut-out. It also has a 50MP OIS-stabilized primary sensor on the back, termed the OmniVision Light Fusion 800, situated behind an f/1.63 Leica Summilux lens. A second 50MP sensor with a 2x telephoto lens and a 12MP sensor behind an ultra-wide lens complement the primary sensor.
Regretfully, there is currently no information on the Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro’s global availability and it is only available in China. Nevertheless, based on its announcement, it appears to be a great phone with some unique features that some consumers may find interesting, especially considering its wide colour selection and reasonably priced starting price of CNY2,999 ($415/€380).
