Up until now, TCL’s most notable reputation may have come from its affordable TVs rather than their high calibre. However, the firm appears to be attempting to reposition itself as the kind of high-end competitor that can rival companies like Sony, LG, and Samsung this week at CES 2024. The company just unveiled the 115QM89, a new 115-inch model that it says is the largest MiniLED TV with Quantum Dot technology, at its CES press conference.
The TV is a subset of TCL’s larger QM8 line, which consists of high-end 65-to 98-inch TVs. Some elements from TCL’s earlier QM8 TVs are carried over into the new set, but it now includes a 6.2.2 channel speaker system that creates a home theatre experience more akin to surround sound. In addition to its massive screen, the TCL AIPQ ULTRA CPU enables the TV to produce clearer, higher-quality images than any of TCL’s earlier models. The 115QM89 is noteworthy for having 20,000 dimming zones, which is crucial for a larger display to make shadows and highlights appear more defined and enhance the visual realism of moody films and TV shows.
Apart from the stunning 115-inch TV, TCL introduced the high-end Q6-Pro, available in 50- to 85-inch screen sizes, including enhanced local dimming that results in a 33 percent increase in display brightness at 600 peak nits. It has expanded its lineup to include the QM7, another Mini LED gadget that provides improved processing speeds, display brightness, and overall image quality.
TCL unveiled the new S5, a member of its lower- to midrange S line that comes with 4K UHD quality on screen sizes ranging from 43 to 85 inches. The new TCL AIPQ processor, according to the firm, would enable better colour depiction and make these TVs 25% brighter than the previous model. In addition, the S5 will have Dolby Vision and HDR PRO+ for overall better image quality.
Finally, TCL unveiled a few brand-new S and Q class soundbars. At the top of the range are the Q85H, which can wirelessly link to back speakers for a more immersive sound experience and offers 7.1.4 Channel Dolby Atmos sound, and the S55H, a new 2.1 Channel Dolby Atmos soundbar.
