The official year-end trailer for A24’s latest catastrophe comedy, which stars Rachel Zegler, the Golden Globe winner, has been released. The film will now be released in theatres on December 6, 2024, after making its international premiere at the SXSW Film Festival last March.
“It’s New Year’s Eve 1999. Two high school nobodies decide to crash the last big party before the new millennium. When the clock strikes midnight, the night gets more insane than they ever could have imagined,” reads the synopsis.
What Happens in the Y2K Trailer?
The abrupt technological revolt, in which all machines have suddenly come to life with the intention of killing people, is highlighted in the video. A bunch of high school students are battling for their lives in the midst of the pandemonium as the calamity interrupts their house party.
Kyle Mooney and Evan Winter, former Saturday Night Live cast members, wrote and directed Y2K. Jonah Hill is the project’s creator and has agreed to produce it under the Strong Baby label. This is Hill’s most recent project with A24; they previously collaborated on his feature directorial debut in the mid-1990s. Winter, Ali Goodwin, Matt Dines, and Chris Storer (The Bear) are also producers.
