Turkish Airlines, the flag carrier of Turkey, has placed an order for 220 Airbus aircraft, comprising of 150 of the company’s best-selling A321s and 70 of the most advanced and productive A350 widebody aircraft in the world (fifty A350-900s, fifteen A350-1000s, and five A350F freighters). This comes after the airline placed two orders for ten A350-900s in September 2023 and four in July 2023. With this most recent order, Turkish Airlines will have 504 Airbus aircraft in total on order—212 of which have already been delivered.
“On the new order, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bolat stated: “This landmark order is more than an expansion; it’s a testament to our dedication to innovation, operational excellence, and a sustainable future. The addition of these advanced Airbus aircraft to our fleet will not only enhance our operational capabilities but also significantly contribute to our environmental goals. This investment is a crucial milestone in the further evolution of Türkiye’s aviation industry. By modernising our fleet with more efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft, we are reinforcing our leading position in global aviation and contributing to the nation’s prominence as an aviation hub.”
“This order for the latest generation aircraft is a demonstration of the bold vision by Turkish Airlines. The A350-900, A350-1000, A350F and A321 will all be flagship aircraft in their respective category and efficiency drivers to shape the airline’s future and sustainable expansion, with more range, less fuel, noise and emissions and best cabin in class,” says Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International. “The opening into the A350-1000 and the A350F highlights the cross-model value of the A350 family and reinforces our long-lasting partnership with Turkish Airlines and Türkiye’s aviation sector. We are proud to accompany Türkiye’s connection to the world with our state-of-the-art aircraft.”
The largest member of Airbus’ A320neo family, the A321neo boasts unmatched performance and range. Compared to earlier generation single-aisle aircraft, the A321neo reduces noise by 50% and uses over 20% less fuel and CO2 thanks to the addition of Sharklets and new generation engines. The plane is a great option for maximizing comfort because it has the widest single-aisle cabin in the sky.
More than 100 customers worldwide have ordered more than 5,600 A321neos to date.
The most advanced and effective widebody aircraft in the world, the A350 leads the 300–410 seater class in terms of range and can fly any sector, from short-haul to ultra-long-haul routes up to 9,700 nm, with ease. Modern technologies, aerodynamics, lightweight materials, and the newest engines are all incorporated into its clean sheet design, which results in a 25% advantage over competing aircraft of the same generation in terms of fuel consumption, operating costs, and CO2 emissions. It also reduces noise levels by 50%. Because of this, the aircraft, wherever it flies, becomes a good neighbor and global citizen.
The A350-900 and A350-1000, which have longer fuselages and provide the best possible passenger experience even on the longest flights, are the two versions of the A350 family. With its large seats, tall ceilings, and enticing ambient lighting, its creative design creates a genuine sense of spaciousness.
By the end of November 2023, 57 of the world’s top customers had placed 1,072 orders for the A350 Family.
The A350F has the longest fuselage length optimized for cargo operations and the biggest main deck cargo door. Because of the advanced materials that make up over 70% of the airframe and the efficient Rolls-Royce engines, the aircraft has an advantage over its closest competitor in terms of fuel burn and CO2 emissions of at least 20%.
Following its debut at the Dubai Airshow two years ago, the A350F orderbook now has 50 orders from nine customers, including this most recent endorsement from Turkish Airlines.
