“Channel Categories” is a new feature that WhatsApp has added.
The goal of this cutting-edge feature is to make finding and following channels on the app easier.
Seven distinct categories are now available for users to explore: People, Lifestyle, Organisations, Entertainment, Sports, Businesses, and News & Information.
For simple channel navigation, the ‘Explore’ option is tucked away in the ‘Updates’ page.
Channels has gained huge popularity
Monthly engagement with WhatsApp Channels has surpassed 500 million users worldwide, demonstrating the platform’s growing popularity.
Bollywood stars like Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor Khan, the Indian cricket team, Vijay Deverakonda, Diljit Dosanjh, and Netflix India are among the most popular networks in India.
Actor Ayushmann Khurrana recently joined the increasing number of famous people in India who use WhatsApp Channels.
WhatsApp to enhance AI capabilities with voice chat feature
WhatsApp is enhancing its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in addition to its Channels function.
The business intends to introduce a two-way voice chat feature that uses Meta AI to let people communicate with chatbots.
With this new feature, users will be able to choose from a variety of voices with varying accents, tones, and pitches for a more customised experience.
A step toward personalized interaction
Android beta testers are not yet able to access the AI voice chat capability.
Voices with US and UK accents are anticipated to be a part of the initial release, though.
The voices of public personalities, including influencers and celebrities, may also be heard on the new engagement option.
This move is in line with Meta’s earlier attempts to give its messaging services AI-driven personalities so that users can interact with them in a more tailored way.
