YouTube organically became a spot for distributing and watching/listening to podcasts, and the Google video service is broadly expected to offer a more optimized experience. This is beginning with a YouTube “Explore” page for “Podcasts.”
Back in March, a leaked presentation uncovered YouTube’s plans for a “podcast destination page.” YouTube.com/podcasts is currently live and is connected to on the current Explore page close by: Trending, Music, Movies & Shows, Live, Gaming, News, Sports, Learning, and Fashion & Beauty. It seems to have first gone live in late July, and is gradually becoming all the more broadly accessible as it’s not appearing for all clients we checked with today.
Accessible on desktop web and mobile, it’s exceptionally simple as of now. There are carousels, which can be extended through “Show all,” for “Popular episodes,” “Popular podcast playlists,” “Recommended,” and “Popular podcast creators.” The rest of this page links to different categories: Comedy, True Crime, Sports, Music, and TV & Film.
You’re simply browsing through regular video thumbnails instead of much else upgraded. In the mean time, tapping one simply opens the regular player on Android, and doesn’t actually default to the “Listening controls” accessible for YouTube Premium subscribers. You get enormous buttons and shortcuts to like, save, and immediately change playback speed.
The podcast experience for end clients will probably get more optimized over time, while it is not yet clear what the UI in YouTube Music will be. Ideally, it’s far removed for individuals that simply need to involve that application for songs.
In the interim, Google Podcasts will probably be collapsed into this as opposed to existing as a different application. That is a disgrace as that experience, which is part of Search, was very straightforward and proficient.
